Little giant | FBR industry won the bid for the secondary development polyester cable project in Liuhua Oilfield, South China Sea

Recently, Zhejiang Four Brothers Rope Industry Co., LTD. (hereinafter referred to as: Four Brothers Rope Industry) was happy to win the notice of mooring polyester cable of the South China Sea Liuhua 11-1/4 4-1 oilfield secondary development project of CNOOC, and successfully won the bid for the domestic first independently designed and constructed cylindrical FPSO (floating production storage and unloading device) domestic mooring polyester cable project.




The secondary development project of Liuhua 11-1/4 4-1 oilfield is a multi-point mooring cylindrical FPSO, of which there are only six in the world. The average water depth of the jacket of the Liuhua 11-1 platform is 324.5 meters, and the design height of the jacket is 338 meters, which is the eighth in the world. After completion, it will refresh the Asian record of 302 meters of the jacket of the Lufeng 15-1 platform, and become another milestone in the history of deepwater jacket construction in China.




Cylindrical FPSO model


The Liuhua Oilfield is located in the Pearl River Estuary Basin in the South China Sea, about 220 km southeast of Hong Kong. The oil field sites are located in water depths of more than 300 meters, including the Liuhua 11-1 oilfield (Zhujiang Area, Mitsui Area) and the Liuhua 4-1 oilfield. The products of Liuhua 11-1 oil field and Liuhua 4-1 oil field are collected in the new deep-water jacket pretreatment platform, and after pretreatment, they are transported to the new FPSO through a 10-inch hose for processing into qualified crude oil, storage and export.




After the Lingshui 17-2 project in the South China Sea, FBR has made another major breakthrough in the field of domestic mooring polyester cables. The mooring polyester cables in the secondary development project of Liuhua 11-1/4 4-1 oilfield require high safety standards and technical indicators, and are difficult to develop, which can resist the super typhoon once in a hundred years. The winning bid fully demonstrates CNOOC's trust in the strength of FBR, which will help further consolidate the company's leading position in the domestic mooring polyester cable market and lay the foundation for the company's further development in the offshore cable market.




More than ten years ago, FBR followed the national Marine development strategy and listed the field of Marine engineering cables as one of the company's future key development directions. At that time, ocean engineering deep-sea mooring cable technology and products were basically monopolized by a few cable companies in Europe and the United States, which strengthened the company's confidence in China's ocean engineering will go to the deep sea, and strengthened its confidence in the application prospects of China's ocean engineering deep-sea mooring cables.


Polyester cable developed by FBR



FBR took the lead in conducting in-depth research on the international conventions and technical specifications related to deep-sea mooring cables, raw materials, product design and manufacturing, equipment design and manufacturing, test methods and test equipment, application scenarios, international exchanges and certification among many domestic cable companies, and began the difficult process of self-development of deep-sea mooring cables. The company has set up a special technical force to carry out key core technology, constantly accumulate technology, and far ahead of other domestic chemical fiber cable enterprises in this field.




At present, FBR is the only cable manufacturer in China with the special recognition certificate of deep-sea mooring cable issued by ABS and DNV, which indicates that the deep-sea mooring cable technology and products independently developed by the company with independent intellectual property rights have been recognized by international authorities. FBR has the industry access qualification to compete with the top fiber rope companies in Europe and the United States.




FBR has persevered in the field of Marine engineering, not forgetting the original intention, and gradually achieved a breakthrough from nothing to nothing and from 0 to 1, truly achieving "grinding a sword in ten years".



"Offshore Oil 981" key project

On April 28, 2008, the "Offshore oil 981" began construction at Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding Co., LTD., and was handed over at sea on November 30, 2011. In 2010, four Brothers FBR successfully won the bid for the mooring and anti-platform cable project of "Offshore Oil 981" during the construction of the terminal. This is the first time that FBR's cable products have been applied to offshore platforms, and the first time they were applied to China's 3000 meters deepwater oil and gas exploration platform, CNOOC's high technical content and advanced "Offshore oil 981", from then on, FBR and CNOOC and offshore engineering deep-sea mooring applications began to become close.

"Offshore Oil 981" is China's first self-designed and built sixth-generation deepwater semi-submersible drilling platform, fully invested by China National Offshore Oil Corporation, is the world's first drilling platform designed in accordance with the harsh sea conditions in the South China Sea and can withstand a once-in-200-year typhoon. The completion of the platform indicates that China has developed independent research and development capabilities and international competitiveness in the field of ocean engineering equipment.

In 2019, FBR won the bid for the first time for the "Deep-sea No. 1" deep-water semi-submersible production and storage platform mooring polyester cable project of Lingshui 17-2 Gas field in the South China Sea of CNOOC, and delivered the first deep-sea mooring polyester cable with a diameter of 270mm in China in 2020, which was fully recognized by the owner. It also marks that FBR has successfully broken the long-term monopoly situation of European and American enterprises in the field of deep-sea mooring polyester cables, and solved the "stuck neck" problem of mooring polyester cables for major Marine equipment in China.

Shenzhen No. 1 domestic polyester cable delivery



"Deep-sea No. 1" is the world's first 100,000-ton deep-water semi-submersible oil production and storage platform independently developed by China. This major equipment of offshore engineering has realized three innovations and used 13 domestic pioneering technologies, and is known as the masterpiece of technology in relevant fields in China so far. One of the 13 pioneering technologies is "the design and manufacturing technology of the first 1500m depth polyester cable in China".
